Most of the activities are centered around the main au naturel
pool, deck, and beach area... but there is a lot more to do if you so choose.
It seems like someone is always coming
up with something to do... especially during one of our sponsored group trips.
Maybe some water volleyball, or nude body painting, or whatever or guests and
staff can come up with. Often during group trips there are also special theme
nights in the La Vista or around the pool after dinnerOr if you choose, you can throw on your clothes for a bit and walk over to the El Dorado for their daily activities and sports which include, bicycles paddle boats, the fitness center, sauna, turkish baths, scuba clinics in the pool, a hard surface tennis cout, kayaking and much more.
Diving, Snokeling & Fishing Diving is spectacular along the Mayan reef nearby
as well as wall diving close to shore. The great Mayan reef is the second
largest reef system besides the Great Barrier Reef off Australia. A nice
benefit is that there has not been lots of development in that part of the
Riviera Maya, so pressure on the reef system is light. Fishing is also great
for deep sea as well as bill fishing. Optional dive trips can be arranged at the water sports shop on site at El Dorado for an extra charge. If you plan to dive, bring your "C" card. There is no diving in front of the resort as there is a protected part of the Mayan Reef that veers near the shore, right in front of the resort's property. There are two other dive shops close by. All SCUBA diving is an additional charge. Dive at your own risk. Here are the names and websites if you wish to contact them before your arrival: Aqua World Water Sports shop at the El Dorado for diving in Cozumel (no diving in front of the resort due to protected reef). Scuba Caribe Dive shop on the beach south of El Dorado about a mile...in front of the Palladium Kantenah Resort. Dive sites from 5-15 minutes from shore. Aquanauts Dive shop in Puerto Aventuras, about 5-10 minutes by taxi north of El Dorado for local diving. Snokeling Water sports, snorkeling, snorkel equipment etc are available at both Hidden Beach and El Dorado Resorts without charge. The best snorkeling is next door at El Dorado...with your swimsuit on. The beach water immediately in front of Hidden Beach is shallow and not well suited for shallow snorkeling since it's partly rocky in spots especially if you're nude; you've got to protect your "equipment." There is better water further out from the beach in front of Hidden Beach. However, access is better next door at El Dorado. Any activity that includes motorized sports is an extra charge. The resort does not include a motorized snorkel trip. Off site, there are numerous activities available for an extra charge including snorkeling, diving, swimming with the dolphins, etc. etc. One of the coolest things you can do off site is to arrange a snorkel trip to a cenote which is typically a large, freshwater sink hole that dot the Yucatan Peninsula. The water is gin clear, many are quite close to the resort and visibility is incredible. A tour desk is available in the Hidden Beach lobby where you can arrange a trip right on site. Transportation to the cenotes, gear and snorkel equipment are typically included in the off site packages. Rates vary by which cenote you select, distance, transportation, etc. The person at the tour desk in the Hidden Beach lobby can assist you. Snorkeling is enjoyed only by guests of Hidden Beach or El Dorado. There are no other resorts adjacent to either Hidden Beach or El Dorado. Kantenah Palladium Resort is about 1-2 miles south of El Dorado. There is nothing north of Hidden Beach for miles. It's very secluded. El Dorado is steps away from Hidden Beach and they share a high wall that separates the two resort properties. Weekly Nude Catamaran Cruise A nude catamaran cruise is "usually" scheduled each Wednesday at the resort. Some guests say the nude cruise is one of the highlights of the week at Hidden Beach Resort. The nude cruise experience on Wednesdays is usually from 10 AM to about 4-5 PM and includes bus transfer to Maroma Beach, snacks & drinks at Maroma, the nude cruise for several hours and a meal woth drinks back on land at Maroma Beach, owned by the management of El Dorado/Hidden Beach. Prices may vary but about $85 is typical (although not guaranteed). NOTE: Time, price, availability and schedule of Wednesday's nude cruise is subject to change, the weather, wind and is not guaranteed to operate each Wednesday (it usually does). Sign up for it when you arrive if it is planned the week you arrive. There may be a discount available if you agree to listen to the Exotic Vacation Club sales pitch. (Also, not guaranteed/subject to change). Tell them you're from Castaways, too. Make your reservations for the nude cruise at the front desk with the concierge or with Exotic to visit gorgeous white sand beaches for nude fun and nude snorkeling. The nude cruise also includes bar drinks, soft drinks, snacks, music, sun, fun and laughter. Plus, you'll meet many of your fellow guests from Hidden Beach Resort. NOTE: This offer is subject to change without notice. Sightseeing With the hotel close to everything, you can choose from many activities when you leave the resort.
Here's just a partial list of things to do: Shopping in Cancun, cruising the bars/discos/clubs
in Playa del Carmen or Cancun, snorkeling and swimming in the natural lagoons
at Xcaret to the north or Xel-ha to the south, visit the ruins at Chichen Itza
to the northwest or Tulum to the south, fish or dive on the Mayan Reef, the
second longest barrier reef in the world, extending all the way to Belize.
Optional escorted tours with driver and guide can be arranged at the resort,
with transportation that will pick you up right at the resort for your guided
tours. Deep sea/bill fishing and diving can be arranged from the hotel, too.
Night club trips into Cancun, folklorico ballet shows, sunset cruises and much
more to see can be arranged for the Cancun area, too. Here are the specific tours listed by Name you can arrange in the lobby of Hidden Beach with a staff tour director:
You can choose
to swim with the Atlantic bottlenose dolphin just off the beach or ride
horseback in the nearby jungle. For a real treat, swim with the trained,
captive dolphins at Puerto Aventuras nearby which has about 6-7 programs you
can sign up for from simply swimming among them to capturing it all on a
personal VCR tape. If you want to
see more of the area including Cozumel, go up to Playa del Carmen about 20
minutes away and catch a water taxi to cross the channel to Cozumel. Trip takes
about 30-45 minutes and service operates hourly from about 6 AM to 11 PM.
Rates: $10-15/person, one way. Service and cost subject to change without
notice. For a fun night life experience in Playa del Carmen at an upscale watering hole and guest hotel, try the Deseo Bar & Cantina on 5th Avenue. A slick place to be sure and not just the same old thing as you would find "bar hopping." Ask any local there where the Deseo is located. Start off the night at the Blue Parrot or other local beach side bistros and bars... just a great place to hang out. You can't get lost on the beach or on 5th Avenue... the street only runs 10-15 blocks and is arguably the "heart of Playa." Fifth avenue runs parallel to the beach so you can't lost unless you've seriously tanked up on tequila. Speaking of tequila, there is a "tequilleria" shop and bar on 5th avenue that boasts hundreds of brands of tequila for sale. Stop in and crawl out! |
